Guinness book snubs New Zealand tram-cram

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (CNN) -- During
their Thursday lunch break, 143 New Zealanders
squeezed and squirmed their way into a city tram in
Christchurch's downtown. 

The townspeople weren't after food. They were after
a world record: the most people to pack themselves
into a tram car. 

Christchurch's claim to fame will remain unofficial. 
The Guinness Book of Records no longer recognizes events
that involve people squeezing into small spaces. Guinness
says such records promote health risks.
